Swedish Gripen planes stationed in Iceland will be part of NATO's Operation Arctic Sentry, which was presented on Wednesday, the Swedish Air Force announced.
Denmark will send four F-35 fighter jets to Greenland as part of NATO's Arctic Sentry operation, Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced. The mission is intended to strengthen the Alliance's presence in the Arctic region and underscore Denmark's role as an active NATO member, amid rising tensions over Greenland and planned talks between US officials and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
It is part of the NATO mission to the Arctic. The Swedish Prime Minister stressed that the country “has the responsibility to contribute to the security of the entire territory of the Alliance.”
