Swans deciding penalties for 'serious' standards breach
The club says the penalties will be separate from the police probe, as five players could miss multiple matches and part of the finals campaign.
On Wednesday, the Sydney Swans are expected to announce disciplinary sanctions against players involved in an incident coach Dean Cox described as a "serious breach of expected club behaviour and standards."
Victoria Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault at the Pullman East Melbourne hotel involving players who remained in the city following Sunday's 36-point win over Essendon.
Sydney chief executive Matthew Pavlich conducted individual interviews with the players on Tuesday, with the club confirming that internal disciplinary measures are being handled separately from the ongoing police probe.
Potential suspensions threaten the club's premiership aspirations, as players may miss Sunday's match against North Melbourne and parts of the upcoming finals campaign.
AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon labeled the allegations "deeply concerning," while the club stated any imposed sanctions relate "solely" to behavioral standards independent of police findings.
