Father arrested by police in fatal stabbing of 3-year-old daughter in East Jerusalem
The girl was staying with her father under a court-approved visitation arrangement. Police say he has a history of mental illness but no record of prior domestic violence. In a separate incident, a man in his 30s was shot and killed in the Israeli Arab city of Tira
The father, a resident of the neighborhood in his 30s, was arrested after fleeing the scene. His arrest was extended until the week of July 14th to continue and complete the investigation. It is suspected that the father was at home with his daughter, and at one point attacked her with a knife. The family members who witnessed the incident were also attacked and injured.
Medical personnel who arrived at the scene were forced to declare the girl dead. • The suspect fled the scene but was captured shortly after by Border Guard soldiers.
