Surrey Police investigating child sex abuse allegations after Epstein files release
Detectives are seeking corroborating evidence after two people came forward with claims tied to Epstein files, and no arrests have been made.
Surrey Police is investigating two separate allegations of "non-recent child sexual abuse" following the release of the Epstein Files. Alleged victims are being supported by detectives as the force examines these fresh claims.
Earlier this year, Surrey Police appealed for information regarding a redacted report from the Epstein Files alleging historical trafficking in Virginia Water during the mid-1990s. The force found no record of these allegations in their own systems.
One investigation relates to locations in Surrey and Berkshire from the mid-1990s to 2000, while the second concerns alleged abuse in west Surrey during the mid-to-late 1980s. No arrests have been made, and detectives expect further inquiries to take months.
Surrey is the third British police force to formally investigate criminality linked to the Epstein Files. Forces are reviewing whether airports and RAF bases were used for trafficking following concerns raised by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Other inquiries continue into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The Metropolitan Police are simultaneously investigating Lord Mandelson over alleged leaks to Epstein while serving in government.
