Performer Who Interrupted Kendrick Lamar's Halftime Show Found Guilty of Resisting Officer
A jury found Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu guilty of resisting an officer after he ran across the field with a protest flag.
On Monday, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill announced that Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu was found guilty of resisting an officer stemming from his disruption of Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl LIX halftime performance at the Caesars Superdome.
During the February 9, 2025, performance, Nantambu deviated from his assigned role and ran across the field with a flag reading "Sudan and Free Gaza," ignoring commands to stop from Louisiana State Police.
Chief Judge Juana Marine-Lombard presided over the trial, finding Nantambu guilty of the misdemeanor resisting charge but acquitting him of disturbing the peace at the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
The NFL issued a lifetime ban against Nantambu following the conviction, and Attorney General Murrill stated her office appreciates the court's decision to hold him accountable for resisting law enforcement.
Nantambu faces a June 1 sentencing hearing where he could receive up to $500 in fines and up to 6 months in prison, while also involved in a separate May 2025 shooting case in Miami where former NFL player Antonio Brown faces attempted murder charges.
