After 40 years in prison, one of France's longest-serving inmates is due to be released from prison on July 25, following the acceptance of yet another request for conditional release. The public prosecutor's office has appealed the decision.
Georges Abdallah, a pro-Palestinian communist activist of Lebanese origin, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1987 for complicity in the murder of two diplomats.
In a statement, the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office points out a decision "not in accordance with the jurisprudence" after the release of the man announced last week. This will not prevent him from coming out on Friday.
