Sui Hits 40.6 Million TPS in Offchain Test Simulating AI Agent Activity

The test exceeded a 20 million TPS target and used more than 10,000 tunnels for payments, games and chat activity, the foundation said.

  • On Wednesday, Oct 7, 2026, the Sui Foundation conducted a live stress test at Sui Basecamp in Singapore, where programmable offchain tunnels peaked at 40,614,180 TPS.
  • Mysten Labs designed these programmable offchain tunnels to facilitate high-frequency activity between autonomous agents, surpassing a previous record of about 6.1 million TPS from July.
  • More than 10,000 tunnels were opened on Sui mainnet during the test, with activity spanning payments, games, and chat applications; CertiK served as independent auditor.
  • Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer at Mysten Labs, stated the network is built for millions of AI agents transacting daily, noting "no market in the world needs 6 million transactions per second, let alone 40 million."
  • This infrastructure supports the Agentic Payments Protocol, a Google standard for AI-driven transactions, and integrates with USDsui stablecoin for cross-border payments and decentralized finance applications.
