Salzburg and Styria will work closely together in the health sector from autumn onwards. Because in Schladming the obstetrics are closed, the Cardinal Schwarzenberg Klinikum will enter Schwarzach. Styria pays heavily for this.
Following Upper Austria, Styria has now also reached a cross-state agreement with Salzburg for the transfer of hospital patients: The corresponding financing agreement was signed on Friday by Styrian Health Minister Karlheinz Kornhäusl and his Salzburg counterpart Daniela Gutschi (both ÖVP) at the Cardinal Schwarzenberg Clinic in Schwarzach in the Salzburg Pongau region.
From October 2026, the births of the Diakonissen Schladming Clinic will be taken over, and from July 2027, general surgery will be taken over.
