Video Shows School Bus Crash in Everett, Massachusetts; 9 Students Taken to Hospital
Nine middle-school students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a car struck a school bus during a left turn, officials said.
On Thursday, a school bus carrying 11 students from the Devens School collided with a black BMW sedan in Everett, sending nine children to the hospital with minor injuries.
Everett Public Schools Superintendent William Hart stated the bus was making a legal left turn from Broadway onto Langdon Street when the BMW struck it, forcing the vehicle into a telephone pole.
There were 13 people on board—a driver, bus monitor, and 11 students—when the collision occurred around 3 p.m. near the Encore Boston Harbor, causing traffic backups on Route 99.
All hospitalized students are expected to be okay with minor injuries, while the Everett Police Department continues investigating the cause of the collision.
Teachers from the Devens School rushed to the scene to assist first responders; the school serves a student body of about 50 children with special needs.
