Students could pay higher fees in this N.J. school district facing $5.6 million deficit

A combination of new student fees, spending cuts and staff reductions has allowed the East Brunswick Board of Education to close a nearly $5.6 million budget gap.The board was able to make more than $4.2 million in cuts over the last few months, bringing the deficit down to $1.38 million, the district announced before the April 23 board meeting. The board has not yet voted on the budget.
