Storm Boelo to Hit UK with Strong Winds as Yellow Warning Issued
Forecasters warn of flooding and travel disruption as heavy rain and winds of up to 80mph hit parts of the UK.
On Friday, the Met Office issued warnings as Storm Austen brings heavy rain and gusts up to 80mph to the United Kingdom, while Storm Boelo is forecast to impact Northern Ireland, Scotland, and northern England over the weekend.
The systems have been 'invigorated by an active jet stream as it crosses the Atlantic,' the Met Office said, creating a sequence of severe weather affecting opposite ends of the United Kingdom.
Forecasters issued an amber warning for Cornwall, Devon, and the Isles of Scilly on Friday, with widespread gusts of 55-65mph expected throughout the weekend and up to 80mph in exposed coastal areas.
Cornwall Council warned 'debris could affect roads, and power cuts are possible,' while the Coastguard advised anyone in trouble along the coast to call 999 and ask for help.
The Met Office urged people to 'stay indoors as much as possible,' as the back-to-back systems threaten an 'impactful weekend of weather' with potential flooding and widespread travel disruption.
