Storm knocks down trees, leaves thousands on Grand Strand without power

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- A strong storm moved across the Grand Strand late Friday afternoon, knocking down trees and utility lines and leaving thousands without power for several hours. Nearly 10,000 were without power at the height of the storm, which rolled through at about 7 p.m. As of about 8:50 p.m., about 2,700 Santee Cooper customers and about 1,500 Horry Electric Cooperative customers were still without power.
