Storm and strong wind warning issued for central and southern Estonia on Friday

A "dangerous" level two weather alert has been issued across southern Estonia by the Environment Agency for this Friday (July 11). Storms and strong winds are forecast throughout the day and night with a chance of hail in some areas.

In the evening, new thunderstorms will reach Southern Estonia and the Gulf of Riga, moving in a northwest-north direction and bringing heavy rain and very strong wind gusts, which can reach up to 25 m/s and above, and large hailstones may also be present. Wind gusts and heavy rain can cause dangerous traffic situations, damage houses and power supplies.

The State Meteorology Agency has activated for this Thursday the orange warning by storms in La Rioja, with precipitations of up to 40 liters per square meter, hail and strong gusts of wind. In the last month, the region has also suffered two major hailstorms that have caused considerable damage in the countryside.
