Robber Snags $115K in Pokémon Collectibles in 30-Second Smash-and-Grab Heist
NEW BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS, JUL 10 – Robber swiftly stole $115,000 worth of rare Pokémon collectibles including booster boxes and first-edition cards, police said the investigation remains open with no arrests yet.
- In the early hours of Tuesday, July 8, a thief broke into a collectibles store specializing in rare Pokémon cards in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and made off with nearly $115,000 worth of merchandise in just half a minute.
- The thief smashed two glass doors and entered through the building’s courtyard, indicating familiarity with the store’s layout and entrances.
- The stolen collection featured two vintage sealed booster boxes, a Blastoise card, and five Charizard cards, alongside other rare collectibles—all of which carry unique serial numbers making them easily recognizable to collectors.
- Store co-owner Felipe Andre said, “We’re literally just three guys” and acknowledged they must “tighten up our security in-store” while police continue investigating with no arrests as of Thursday afternoon.
- The shop closed following the theft to reflect and regroup, plans to reopen around July 15, and asks the community to report any suspicious attempts to sell the stolen cards.
