Ajax Win by a Big Margin at Telstar After a Sluggish Start
Steven Berghuis scored once and set up two more as Ajax pulled away after a slow first half.
- On Sunday, Ajax defeated Telstar 0-4 in a VriendenLoterij Eredivisie match in Velsen-Zuid. The Amsterdammers scored through Davy Klaassen, Steven Berghuis, Tolu Arokodare, and Marcos Leonardo despite a difficult first half.
- The Amsterdammers laboured early on before breaking the deadlock after 37 minutes. Berghuis whipped in a dangerous corner, allowing Klaassen to bundle in the opener from close range.
- In the 56th minute, Berghuis extended the lead to 0-2 after a quick counter-attack. Four minutes later, he teed up Arokodare, who finished to make it 0-3.
- Late in the game, Leonardo added a fourth goal in the 78th minute. Joffre Torrents made his Ajax debut off the bench following his arrival from Barcelona.
- Currently fourth in the Eredivisie, Ajax holds seven points from three matches. Arokodare, on loan from Wolves, has registered four goals across all competitions.
