Stephen Lawrence murderer must name other killers, father says
Neville Lawrence demands David Norris name all gang members responsible for his son's racially motivated murder before parole board considers release after 13 years in prison.
- On Tuesday, David Norris, 49, will bid to be released on licence at a public Parole Board hearing livestreamed to the Royal Courts of Justice, backed by Stephen's parents.
- In April 1993 in Eltham, Stephen Lawrence was killed by a racist gang of up to six attackers; only David Norris and Gary Dobson were convicted, while a 1999 inquiry found institutional racism and police corruption.
- Prison staff reported that earlier this year David Norris admitted being present and said he punched Stephen but did not stab him, while police secretly filmed him expressing violent racist fantasies.
- Neville Lawrence, 83, Stephen's father, says one killer must name others before parole and questions if Norris remains racist, warning he shouldn't be released if unchanged.
- The Met closed its probe in 2020 but a BBC investigation prompted an independent review that began last month; the College of Policing leads this review following convictions and Matthew White's 2021 death.
