Stellantis to Bring Tiny Electric Fiat Topolino to the US in 2026
The Fiat Topolino, an electric quadricycle with a top speed of 28 mph, targets U.S. consumers amid interest sparked by recent political remarks on small vehicles.
- On Monday, Stellantis NV confirmed it will bring the 2.5-meter-long Fiat Topolino to the U.S., and Fiat CEO Olivier Francois said more details will come next year.
- After a White House meeting last week, President Donald Trump praised small Kei cars, but a Stellantis spokeswoman told CNBC the Topolino launch was unrelated and based on U.S. auto shows interest.
- Classified as an all-electric quadricycle, the Topolino uses a 5.4-kilowatt-hour battery, charges on a 240-volt outlet, and measures about 2.5 meters.
- U.S. regulators must approve the Topolino to meet U.S. safety and speed standards, and if launched, it would join the Fiat 500e, doubling Fiat's U.S. offerings soon.
- In Europe the Topolino is priced at about 10,000 euros, and Fiat's U.S. sales fell from nearly 44,000 vehicles in 2012 to roughly 1,500 last year, underscoring weak demand.
