Stellantis Recalls 848,500 U.S. Vehicles for Software Glitch
The fix will come through an over-the-air update, and Stellantis said no injuries have been reported.
- On Monday, August 17, 2026, Stellantis notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of a recall covering over 900,000 vehicles due to a radio software glitch that can prevent the backup camera from functioning.
- The radio software malfunction prevents the backup camera from displaying properly, affecting 848,511 vehicles in the United States while about 100,000 additional units are recalled outside the country.
- Affected models include the 2026-27 Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Charger, Jeep Wrangler, and Ram 1500, 2500, and ProMaster vans. Stellantis confirmed the fix will be delivered via over-the-air update, requiring no dealership visit.
- Stellantis spokesperson Frank Matyok advised drivers to rely on rearview and side mirrors until the update becomes available. Owners will receive a prompt on their media screen when the software fix is ready for download.
- The recall extends globally, with an estimated 82,869 vehicles in Canada, 7,969 in Mexico, and 15,736 in other markets outside North America. Stellantis reported no injuries have been linked to the software malfunction.
