State sales tax rebates drop county wide in April checks
Prices may be higher, but it hasn’t meant increased sales tax collections for Wharton County or its cities this month. Instead, sales tax rebates are down between 6.83% and 18.15% between this April and one year ago.
Emergency supplies sales tax holiday this weekend
A state sales tax holiday will kick off this weekend for emergency supplies to prepare residents for severe weather such as fires, floods and tornadoes. Eligible items can be purchased tax free during the holiday that will be held from Saturday, April 26 through Monday, April 28. There is no limit on the number of qualifying items that can be purchased during the holiday.
