State denies Isabel request for lower speed limit on Main

After conducting a speed study on Main Street, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SD-DOT) has denied Isabel's request that the speed limit on Highway 65 through town be lowered. The Isabel Board of Trustees made the request in March, asking the SD-DOT to reduce the speed limit on the Main Street portion of HIghway 65 that runs through town from 35 mph to 25 mph, citing public safety concerns.
