MASSACHUSETTS, JUL 21 – Six Massachusetts organizations received $5 million to enhance trauma-informed practices and support social-emotional development in early education programs, officials said.
- Earlier this month, the Healey-Driscoll administration awarded $5 million in Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Grants, supporting social-emotional and behavioral health in early education and care programs.
- Amid a worsening youth mental health crisis, Governor Maura Healey cited pandemic impacts, prompting grants to boost trauma-informed practices and at-risk child screening.
- Funding was distributed among six organizations, including Behavioral Health Network Inc. and the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children , and the grants provide tools for educator-led identification and family support.
- The grants support healthy development of the youngest students and aim to reduce suspension and expulsion rates, promoting school success and community health.
- Next, providers will build stronger family partnerships and implement individualized support plans, while training providers and refining program processes to enhance young children’s long-term developmental and behavioral well-being.
