Stabbed mother dies in crash while driving herself to hospital
Police say Eleanor Barnfield was stabbed before the crash, and a 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
On Monday, October 19, Eleanor Barnfield, 47, died after suffering fatal stab wounds and crashing her car into a wall on Coity Road, Bridgend, while attempting to drive herself to hospital.
South Wales Police arrested a 61-year-old man from Bridgend on suspicion of murder following a significant operation at the Ger-y-Nant retirement complex, where Barnfield worked.
Barnfield's family remembered her as the "kindest, most loving bravest person in the world," while Valleys to Coast chief executive Joanne Oak expressed devastation over losing their valued colleague.
Chief Superintendent Jason Rees stated that teams of detectives are investigating the incident, as residents of the Ger-y-Nant complex were displaced during the police operation.
Police urged the public to avoid online speculation about ambulance response times, while encouraging anyone with information to contact them quoting reference number 2600342470.
