A referendum on defense spending will not be held in Slovenia after the parliament approved the repeal of the relevant decree on Friday. According to the Slovenian agency STA, this also means that a referendum on Slovenia's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will not take place either. Robert Golob announced this in protest against the first plebiscite. Neither referendum was formulated as binding.
After two weeks, MPs voted to withdraw the consultative referendum on defense spending. 44 MPs voted in favor and 7 against.
