Squatters in Vondelparkbuurt before the court: "Forced by the housing crisis"

Eight squatters were on trial today for occupying a building on Waldeck Pyrmontlaan, near Vondelpark in Amsterdam. The building was squatted twice in 2022: in January and March. According to the squatters, they were forced to squat because of the housing crisis. According to the public prosecutor, it was simply a case of 'vandalism'.

Pure vandalism. That is what the public prosecutor called the destruction caused by squatters three years ago today. Eight suspects appeared in court today for squatting a building at the Vondelpark. According to the Public Prosecution Service, they are guilty of trespassing and vandalism, they themselves say that they were forced to squat 'by the housing crisis'.
