CARLTON — The Minnesota Department of Agriculture plans to treat eight different areas spanning 19,000 acres in Carlton County for spongy moth, an invasive species that defoliates forests. On Tuesday, Carlton County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to sign off on the plan during its committee-of-the-whole meeting. Low-flying planes are expected to spray a pheromone to attract and trap male moths and disrupt their mating in June or July. …
