The rapes took place in 2016 in the Erripagaina neighborhood of Pamplona. The two girls who were attacked filed a complaint, the Spanish Police began an investigation, and over time, much of the material from that investigation disappeared or was altered. It was later discovered that one of the police officers involved in the investigation was the brother-in-law of one of the attackers.
