- On Dec. 16, the South Carolina Department of Public Health reported nine new measles cases in the Spartanburg area, raising the outbreak total to 135 and the state total to 138 this year.
- The outbreak began on Oct. 2, 2025, when officials confirmed linked cases, and since then it has become the nation's second-largest cluster after Arizona at 176, with some cases tied to travel or close contacts, while others lack known sources, DPH says.
- DPH data show Way of Truth Church in Inman has around 30 cases since November, Berry Shoals Elementary exposures led to 44 students in a 21-day quarantine, and 124 cases are in children including 28 under age 5.
- DPH says vaccines are available through primary care providers, pharmacies and local DPH health departments, and groups may request the DPH Mobile Health Unit, but no vaccination events are scheduled in Spartanburg County.
- The CDC reported the U.S. has had 1,912 measles cases this year and warns it is contagious during the four days before through four days after rash onset, with complications like pneumonia and encephalitis.
