- Police say the incident took place at a home used as an informal tavern at around 04:00–04:15, with officers alerted only at 06:00.
- Police spokeswoman Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said `I can confirm that a total of 25 people were shot`, and 14 were hospitalised following the incident.
- Authorities mobilised forensic, ballistic and detective teams and say at least three unknown gunmen entered and started shooting; the motive is unknown and no arrests have been made.
