Somalia Sees Sharp Rise in Media Freedom Attacks Over Past Six Months, Says NUSOJ
The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) is raising urgent concern over a sharp rise in targeted actions against journalists in Somalia. In the first half of 2025 alone, NUSOJ documented 41 violations of media freedom, each clearly tied to journalistic work. These were not accidents or misunderstandings. They were calculated moves to intimidate journalists and shut down independent reporting.
