Pete Hegseth addresses the USS Lincoln in 'SNL' Cold Open
Colin Jost’s Pete Hegseth mocks the carrier’s rough deployment and the Pentagon’s new logo while James Austin Johnson appears as Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, Saturday Night Live featured comedian Colin Jost as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, spoofing the Trump administration while welcoming home sailors from the USS Abraham Lincoln in San Diego.
The aircraft carrier returned to port after a 322-day deployment amid widespread reports of severe supply shortages, broken plumbing, and eight suicide attempts among personnel assigned to the carrier strike group.
During the sketch, Hegseth sported an ammunition belt containing Fireball Cinnamon Whisky and unveiled a new Department of War logo that he admitted had a "Nazi vibe."
James Austin Johnson appeared as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. to discuss measles, while the sketch mocked plans to livestream the December execution of former Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.
Following this week's installment, Saturday Night Live will take a brief hiatus, with no new shows airing on October 17 or October 24 before returning for a Halloween episode.
