The volume of public charges collected, i.e. the sum of all taxes and contributions, expressed as a share of gross domestic product (GDP), increased slightly in Europe last year. In the EU as a whole, it rose from 39.9 to 40.4 percent, and in the euro area from 40.5 to 40.9 percent. Slovenia is among the countries with the highest growth in this indicator, Eurostat finds.
