As has now become known, a harrowing accident occurred in the Gemeindealpe ski area (Lilienfeld district) on Saturday morning. Shortly after 9 o'clock, a female skier fell during the “summit slope descent” and collided with a tree. It is not known why the 57-year-old lost control. A 22-year-old woman died Saturday morning at Aspen Highlands ski area after running into a tree, according to the Aspen Skiing Company.  The woman’s name and hometown have not been released as the Pitkin County Coroner’s Office was locating the next of kin as of Saturday evening.
