Six in 10 Smartphone Owners Want Less Screen Time and More Time Appreciating Life
A survey reveals 60% of smartphone users want to reduce screen time to better appreciate nature, with 86% admitting they focus more on recording than enjoying moments.
- Last week, The National Lottery launched a campaign at London's Primrose Hill to encourage the public to look up, responding to a poll showing six in 10 smartphone owners want to spend less time looking down at their devices.
- OnePoll research found 21 per cent of users miss nature due to device distractions, while 26 per cent fail to take in their surroundings and 29 per cent admit technology prevents them from relaxing or being mindful.
- Regarding personal habits, 86 per cent believe others prioritize recording moments over enjoying them, though 76 per cent admit to the behavior themselves and 64 per cent find walking while using devices irritating.
- Andy Carter, senior winners advisor at Allwyn, stated the clock change signals longer days and noted that looking up is "an act of hope and optimism," encouraging disconnection from devices.
- The Grade II listed Primrose Hill is one of the capital's most scenic locations, where disconnecting can make people feel happier, more hopeful, and more connected to their surroundings.
