Six Flags to sell 7 parks, including Galveston Schlitterbahn
The sale aims to reduce $5.2 billion debt and focus on higher-return parks; the seven parks had 4.5 million visitors and $260 million revenue in 2025, Six Flags said.
- On Thursday, March 5, 2026, Six Flags Entertainment Corp. announced it will sell seven parks to EPR Properties for $331 million.
- The company began selling parks in 2025 after an $8 billion merger with Cedar Fair to strengthen finances following the deal, which left Six Flags struggling financially.
- Valleyfair, Michigan's Adventure, Worlds of Fun, Six Flags St. Louis, Six Flags Great Escape, Six Flags La Ronde, and Schlitterbahn Galveston will keep the Six Flags name and operate through 2026, with no guest impact expected during transition, Enchanted Parks said.
- Proceeds will be used to pay down $5.2 billion in debt, trimming Six Flags' portfolio to 34 parks, with the seven sold parks generating $260 million net revenue and 9% of attendance in 2025.
- The deal is expected to close in March or April, news leaked via Enchanted Parks' January trademark filings, and two D.C.-area parks on about 500 acres will be marketed for redevelopment.
