Sinkhole-plagued Route 33 bridges are behind schedule and over budget

Work to replace two sinkhole-plagued Route 33 bridges over the Bushkill Creek is more than a year behind schedule and $3 million over budget, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.The pockmarked terrain has long confounded PennDOT’s efforts to erect stable highway bridges from Palmer Township to Stockertown. A $10 million replacement project was torn down 20 years ago.
