«Simion Is an Opportunist Fascist»: Concern About Romania's Presidential Election

The presidential election in Romania has become a battle between nationalism and the pro-European course, why the Romanians rebel against the elite and what that means.

The final round of Romania's presidential election will be held on Sunday between far-right George Simion and pro-EU Nicusor Dan. The cancellation of the election in December due to Russian election interference and the ban on the candidacy of Calin Georgescu angered the people and led them to vote for a new bigot who threatens their small neighbor.

"Go Transylvania, go Szekler! Let's stop together the actively anti-Hungarian and obviously neo-fascist George Simion and his associates!"

The far-right Romanian parties Alliance for the Unification of Romanians and the Youth Party plan to contest the results of the second round of the presidential election if their candidate, George Simion, loses.
