- Torrey Damien Moore, a 34-year-old Maryland man, was sentenced this week to three life terms for killing a convenience store clerk and his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn child.
- The murders followed surveillance showing Moore and Denise Middleton, who was eight months pregnant, last seen alive in early October before Moore left and researched body decomposition and legal defenses.
- In December 2022, Moore shot 61-year-old clerk Ayalew Wondimu at a store across the street from his apartment before police found Moore sleeping with the murder weapon nearby and Middleton’s decomposing body in his apartment.
- John McCarthy, the State's Attorney for Montgomery County, remarked that the situation took a heartbreaking turn beyond anyone’s expectations when officers executing a no-knock warrant at Moore’s residence detected a strong, troubling odor.
- Moore remains silent about his motive, will likely serve prison until his 90s, and became the first person in Montgomery County convicted of killing a viable fetus.
