French State Forced To Pay Damages for Refusing to Fund Gender Transitions

In its judgment issued this Monday, the court of Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) ordered the sickness insurance to reimburse 5,305.79 euros to a transgender man for an operation and to pay a total of 6,000 euros of damages to the two plaintiffs.
The Seine-Saint-Denis Health Insurance has been sentenced for refusing to take care of two gender transitions. At the time, the CPAM had justified its refusal to take over on the basis of a protocol dating back to 1989. In its decision, the Bobigny court reported that the scheme had been abolished, also ordering the Caisse nationale de l'Insurance maladie to pay 3,000 euros of damages to the plaintiffs.
Both complainants will receive €3,000 in damages in recognition of the damage suffered.
