Showcase to open BGSU Faculty Artist Series – BG Independent News

Two dozen musicians from  the BGSU College of Musical Arts will be showcased in concert Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 8 p.m. in Bryan Reital Hall in the Moore Musical Arts Center on campus. This is the first performance of the 2026-2027 Faculty Artist Series. It will feature classical music from the 16th century until now as well as jazz and musical theater. The program will be: Allegro from Centone No. 5 by Samuel Scheidt arranged Verne Reynolds  performed by the Faculty Brass Quintet —Charles Saenz and Jane Anderson, trumpet,  Andrew Pelletier, horn, Jeremy Marks, trombone, and David Saltzman, tuba “Zdes’ Khorosho” by Sergei Rachmaninoff performed by           Emma Clark, soprano, and Kevin Bylsma, piano “For Joni for alto flute and viola” by Stephanie Griffin performed by Roberta Michel, flute, and Hannah Levinson, viola “Spark” by Ariel Kasler performed by Faculty Jazz Quartet —David Bixler, alto, Kasler, guitar, Aidan Plank, bass, and Daniel Piccolo, drums “Apology” and “The Giver of Stars” from “Love Sweet” by Jennifer Higdon performed by Sarah Luebke, soprano, Benjamin Hoffman, violin; Brian Snow, cello, and Francisca de Castanheiro de Freitas, piano “La chaise à porteurs,” “Idylle arabe,” “Sérénade d’automne” and “Danse hindoue” from “Pièces romantiques for two pianos” by Cecile Chaminade performed by Robert Satterlee, primo, and Yevgeny Yontov, secondo. Presto from String Trio in G major by Ludwig van Beethoven performed by Benjamin Hoffman, violin; Hannah Levinson, viola; and Brian Snow, cello. “One Day More” from “Les Miserables” by C-M Schönberg, A. Boubil and H. Kretzmer (translation) performed by Kevin Clark as Jean Valjean; Sarah Luebke as Cosette; Logan Gutierrez as Marius; Todd Graber as Enjolras; Sujin Lee as Eponine; Keith Phares as Javert; Katherine Pracht Phares as Mme Thenardier; Lance Ashmore as Thenardier; Emma Clark, soprano; and Kevin Bylsma, piano.
