The production of shikuwasa, which accounts for 90% of the national market share, is decreasing. According to the Okinawa Prefectural Horticulture Promotion Division's statistics "Okinawa Prefecture Horticulture and Distribution," the most recent figure for fiscal 2022 was 3,580 tons.
