135 years ago, on Saturday, December 6, 1890, a daughter, Marie, was born as the third of five children to the family of a poor metallurgist, Antonín Sklenička, from the village of Štěpánov, today a district of Kladno. When she was 19, she met an agile trade unionist named Antonín Zápotocký during the workers' demonstrations of the time. Later, together they formed the second workers' presidential couple in the history of this country.
