The Australian sharemarket was moderately higher at lunchtime trading as US market futures rose on confirmation American and Chinese trade officials will meet, spurring optimism trade tensions could ease.

The ASX200 closed up 0.33% at 8,178 points. Energy was the strongest performing sector, 2.1%, followed by Real Estate and Discretionary, both up 0.8%. Health Care was the worst performer, down 1.5%. In the Green Zip Co (ASX:ZIP) closed up 13% on release of a trading update.
