Many communities in southeastern and northwestern Bulgaria have been declared in a state of emergency.
Three people have died in Bulgaria in a desperate attempt to help their fellow citizens in danger due to catastrophic floods in the east of the country. Several resorts are covered in mud and water after a storm of unusual violence hit the entire coastline between Sveti Vlas and Tsarevo. The worst situation is in Elenite, near Sunny Beach, where the torrents swept away dozens of cars and threw them into the Black Sea.


Three people have died in floods following heavy rains in southeastern Bulgaria. Local sources reported that two rescue workers, one of them a border policeman, were among the dead, while a third died in a hotel after water levels rose. The rains were among the heaviest the region has seen in recent times, prompting Bulgarian authorities to declare a state of emergency in the southeast and northwest of the country.
