The majority of Orthodox believers, who follow the Julian calendar, entered the new year at midnight. New Year's celebrations with special menus and live music were organized by some caterers in Slovenia, while in Belgrade, where the seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church is located, many welcomed the new year in bars and on rafts on the Belgrade water.
