The entire kidney had to be surgically removed due to changes in the vitality of the kidney tissue. Simanic is expected to remain at a hospital in the Philippines to recover.
- Omot expressed his apologies for the incident and stated that he did not mean to make a dirty play. Serbia advanced to the quarterfinals of the FIBA World Cup and will face Lithuania.
