- The Vancouver Police Department reported the incident began around 5:30 a.m. near Comox and Broughton streets, where the driver allegedly struck fences and plants while driving erratically through the Nelson Park area.
- After ramming a VPD vehicle, the suspect's car flipped and was destroyed, with Vancouver Fire Rescue Services freeing the trapped driver from the wreckage.
- Two VPD officers were also hospitalized following the collision, while witnesses nearby "had to scramble to get out of the way of the suspect's vehicle."
- The Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident as the VPD stated "Mental health and drug use issues are possible factors" while Comox Street remains closed between Bute and Thurlow streets.
