The Italian Government passes a decree-law in favour of security
The Italian ultra-conservative government of Giorgia Meloni adopted on Friday 4 March a decree-law printing a new round of security screws. The decree aims to increase the penalties for certain offences and the protection of the police officers involved in cases of violence.

The President of the Italian Council issued by decree a text which, in particular, protects the police in the event of accusations of police violence. Some of the most controversial articles were withdrawn under the influence of Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
