- On Friday morning, a U.S. Secret Service special agent accidentally shot himself in the leg while handling a service weapon during a protective assignment at the Philadelphia International Airport, police said.
- The agent was assigned to the security detail for former First Lady Jill Biden, who was at the airport but not present when the "negligent discharge" occurred, an agency official said.
- Emergency medical services transported the agent to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition. "There were no reported injuries to any other individuals," the Secret Service said.
- Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring confirmed "there was no impact to the protectee's movement and they were not present at the time of the incident." The agency's Office of Professional Responsibility will review the incident.
- Authorities held the scene for investigation while officials stated there is no threat associated with the shooting and airport operations remain undisrupted.
