Search Underway for Missing Ocean Springs Teen Last Seen on Horn Island
Multiple agencies and volunteers are searching Horn Island as officials say it is not verified whether 18-year-old Nolan Xavier Wells remains there.
- Authorities are searching for 18-year-old Nolan Xavier Wells, who was last seen Saturday, July 4, around 3 p.m. on Horn Island, according to Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter. This remains an active investigation.
- The teenager was celebrating the Fourth of July with friends on the Gulf Coast when he went missing. Authorities are currently focused on the east end of Horn Island during the search.
- Search efforts include the United States Coast Guard, the Department of Marine Resources, and the Gulf Islands National Seashore. The United Cajun Navy is searching by air, incident commander Josh Gill said.
- Wells played football at Ocean Springs High School and is a wide receiver at Southwest Mississippi Community College. His mother, Christine Wonsley, said, "We just pray our son is alive & safe."
- The Jackson County Sheriff's Department urges anyone with information to contact them at 228-769-3063. The department noted it is not verified if Wells remains on Horn Island.
