Search Between Narooma and Bermagui Continues for Missing Fisherman
EUROBODALLA SHIRE COUNCIL, NEW SOUTH WALES, JUL 19 – The search involves nearly 30 volunteers and multiple agencies covering a vast area up to 22 km offshore, as the missing fisherman’s vessel remains unlocated.
On Monday, July 21, a multi-agency search resumed for a missing fisherman off Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast.
Failing to return by evening, emergency services were alerted at 7:20pm after the fisherman left Batemans Bay Marina at 6am on Saturday, NSW Police said.
Marine Area Command has deployed vessels, fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, navigating around whales under low moonlight, Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Stuart Massey said.
Coverage has now expanded as far north as Port Stephens, while Marine Rescue NSW zone duty operations manager Stuart Massey said search area spans from north of Narooma to south of Bermagui.
Today, crews are scanning Ulladulla to Merimbula and crews will continue until 'otherwise instructed,' according to Inspector Stuart Massey.
